Data Manager, After-School Programming

Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ), a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York, seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned Data Manager to support our K-12 After-School Programs.

The Data Manager will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children’s Zone: breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty through comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that creates opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.

We are currently seeking a Data Manager to ensure that all program data is clean, organized, accurate, and compliant with HCZ, Promise Academy, and program guidelines. The ideal candidate has exceptional data management and analytical skills, including strong attention to detail, is familiar with database systems and Microsoft Excel, and is professional, creative, and enthusiastic about working in a community-based organization.

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred 

• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant professional experience will be considered 
• 2+ years of experience in data management, program administration, reporting, operations, education, youth development, nonprofit, or a related field 
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to organize, analyze, and report on data 
• Experience working with databases, student information systems, Salesforce, or other data management platforms
• Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to maintain data accuracy and integrity
• Experience generating reports, analyzing data, and communicating findings to stakeholders 
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills 
• Previous experience supervising staff, interns, or volunteers preferred

What you’ll do

• Ensure program data is accurate, complete, organized, and compliant with HCZ, Promise Academy, funder, and program requirements 
• Manage and maintain data systems, processes, and reporting tools that support effective program operations and decision-making 
• Monitor attendance, participation, enrollment, and performance metrics, ensuring timely and accurate data entry and reporting 
• Generate, analyze, and present data reports to identify trends, measure program outcomes, and support continuous improvement efforts 
• Partner with Directors, Assistant Directors, and program staff to translate data into actionable insights that improve participant experiences and program effectiveness 
•  Supervise, coach, and support Data Aides to ensure high-quality work, professional growth, and adherence to established data standards 
• Conduct routine data audits and implement strategies to maintain data integrity and improve reporting accuracy 
• Train and support staff on data collection procedures, reporting requirements, and best practices for data management 
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve system utilization, and enhance operational efficiency 
• Perform other duties as assigned
  

Schedule 

• This role requires an 8-hour shift Monday through Friday, scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Final hours will be based on program assignment and operational needs of the after-school site/program.
• Summer Schedule: To support summer camp operations, employees work an 8-hour shift within a schedule that may range from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Summer hours are determined by the site and program assignment you support during the school year.
