You will be based on site at our Kinston, NC location. The shift will start at 2:00 pm and end at 10:00 pm.  This role supports the production line and will follow production's needs.

Summary:

Maintenance Technician I is responsible for maintaining and repairing manufacturing equipment to maximize reliability, uptime, and operational efficiency. This role provides preventive and corrective maintenance support for plastics and fabrication operations, troubleshoots equipment issues, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. The position ensures compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and energy management standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance equipment performance, reduce downtime, and control lifecycle costs.

Your main tasks:

Perform comprehensive industrial maintenance and troubleshooting on manufacturing equipment by diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems to ensure safe, reliable, high-quality, and cost-effective production operations. This includes supporting PLC-controlled equipment, adhering to safety and quality standards (OSHA, ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001), minimizing downtime, driving continuous improvement, and collaborating effectively with production, engineering, and maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
• Diagnose and maintain electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems, including motors, drives, sensors, and PLCs.
• Support Siemens and Allen-Bradley automation platforms and resolve controls-related issues affecting production.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, including LOTO, PPE requirements, and OSHA regulations.
• Maintain equipment to meet quality standards, support root cause analysis, and verify performance before returning equipment to production.
• Reduce downtime and maintenance costs through efficient repairs and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicate equipment status, and provide technical support and training.
• Support energy management objectives and comply with ISO 50001 requirements.

Required Qualifications 

• Associate degree, certificate, or diploma in Electrical/Electronic Maintenance, Industrial Systems, or a related technical field 

• Minimum of two (2) years of formal technical education or training 

• Experience working with industrial electrical systems, including three‑phase 480‑volt power and 24‑volt control circuits 

• Ability to troubleshoot and repair motors, controls, and electrical panels 

• Working knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) 

• Ability to work effectively in a team‑based manufacturing environment 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Ten (10) or more years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment 

• Experience with Siemens and Allen‑Bradley PLC platforms 

• Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems 

• Experience supporting metal forming and stamping equipment 

• Knowledge of ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems, including SEUs, objectives, operational controls, and energy performance indicators 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to lift packages 35 lbs. or less on a consistent basis
• Should be able to team lift any package greater than 35 lbs. but less than 71 lbs.
• Should be able to handle repetitive twisting, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, and bending
• Must be able to spend long periods of time on your feet
