Job Summary:
The Technician Trainer will lead and oversee advanced on-the-job training (OJT) and classroom training programs specifically tailored to Technician. This role involves developing, maintaining, and updating comprehensive training plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, industry standards, and technical requirements. The Trainer will evaluate training effectiveness, identify skill gaps, and provide recommendations to enhance workforce capabilities.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate and provide input in the development of training programs for Technicians
- Implement, and manage training programs for Technicians, ensuring alignment with quality standards, and technical requirements
- Ensure new hires, transfers, and existing employees complete their training plans, including advanced technical skills and certifications
- Collaborate with Production Supervisors and Value Stream Managers to design and update training plans based on operational needs and individual development goals
- In partnership with Engineering, optimize testing conditions, instructions and training documentation to improve training quality and efficiency
- Train and cross-train Technicians in automated test setup, execution, and troubleshooting
- Train and cross-train Technicians in manual test setup, adjustment, operation and interpretation of results from standard and special purpose test equipment, such as differential and multi-meters, signal generators, power supplies, bridges, oscilloscopes, DMMs, altitude chamber, flow meter and hi-pot
- Schedule and coordinate training sessions (classroom, OJT, or virtual) in collaboration with Production Leads, SMEs and Training Specialists
- Monitor and assess training effectiveness, modifying training plans and methodologies as needed to ensure optimal outcomes
- Provide detailed feedback to area Leads and Supervisors on trainee performance, efficiency, and qualifications achieved
- Schedule and administer training classes to certify Associates (i.e., IPC)
- Approve and release trainees for independent work upon successful completion of training plans
- Ensure timely completion of all training requirements, including cross-training initiatives to support workforce flexibility and Value Stream objectives
- Conduct retraining sessions to onboard, address skill gaps and ensure associates meet or exceed efficiency and quality standards
- Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with all relevant policies, regulations, and documentation requirements
- Promote and enforce safety practices, ensuring all associates perform tasks in a safe manner and adhere to safety guidelines
- Proactively identify and communicate training-related challenges, collaborating with supervisors and management to resolve issues
- Serve as a point of contact for training-related inquiries and provide support for training-related administrative tasks
- All other duties assigned by Manager
Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in electronics manufacturing or a related production environment, with a focus on electronics technician-level tasks and training
Knowledge:
- Advanced knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes, raw materials, quality control standards (e.g., AS9100), and industry best practices
- Familiarity with IPC standards and other relevant certifications
- Knowledge of electronic components, circuitry, and testing equipment
Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in soldering, rework, and repair techniques, including SMT and through-hole components
- Strong technical aptitude, including the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and manufacturing instructions
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to provide clear instructions and constructive feedback
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple training programs simultaneously
- Proficiency in using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other training tools
Education/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent required. Advanced technical certifications (e.g., IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC 7711/7721, or equivalent) required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in Electronics, Engineering Technology, or a related field
- Experience in developing and delivering technical training programs
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams in a manufacturing environment
- Hold industry-level certified trainer certifications (i.e., IPC)
Non-Essential Functions:
- Perform tasks assigned to support Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Growth projects
- Participate in Crane Business System events such as Kaizen, JDI, KPI reviews, etc.
- Serve as a backup for Production Leads and fellow Production Trainers as needed
- Act as an administrator for online training platforms (e.g., Convergence) as required
- Support customer visits and internal/external audits as needed
Working Conditions:
- Working conditions are typical for an electronics manufacturing environment
- May require the use of safety equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, ESD protection, masks, hearing protection, and other PPE as necessary
- Potential exposure to environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust, or fumes
- Flexibility to work overtime or adjust schedules as needed to meet training and production requirements

Salary range: $58.74 - $70.10. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
