Technical Support Developer

Job Description

The Technical Support Developer is pivotal in providing comprehensive technical support and being the primary point of contact for our support team, ensuring that our developers can focus on their core tasks. In addition to helping provide accurate quotes, this position will investigate and complete support tasks on a scheduled basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in web technologies, particularly WordPress, and will play a crucial role in quality assurance testing, debugging, and implementing fixes for issues identified prior to site launches.

Essential Job Functions

1. Serve as the primary point of contact for support-related tasks and questions, ensuring efficient resolution of issues
2. Conduct quality assurance testing and undertake tasks required for website launches and pre-launch checks
3. Investigate and complete bug fixes and support requests
4. Complete ongoing client tasks
5. WordPress plugin installation, configuration, and maintenance
6. Database queries, browsing, and search/replace
7. Code deployment to a variety of environments
8. Provide basic web hosting server management and maintenance
9. Other duties as assigned.

Technical Support Developer Qualifications

1. Ability to jump into a codebase for debugging purposes
2. Intermediate knowledge of frontend languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
3. Intermediate knowledge of backend languages such as PHP
4. Intermediate knowledge of WordPress CMS
5. Intermediate knowledge of WordPress Theme Development
6. Knowledge of version control (Git)
7. Knowledge of website hosting and setup
8. Knowledge of working with databases (MySQL)
9. Knowledge of FTP/SFTP applications
10. Intermediate knowledge of Web Hosting & Server Management
11. High school diploma or GED
12. 1-2 years web development experience
13. Either:
14. Proven self-taught web development experience OR coding bootcamp
15. Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
16. Knowledge of frontend JavaScript libraries a plus (Vue, jQuery)
17. Knowledge of backend PHP frameworks a plus (Laravel)
18. Knowledge of building custom WordPress plugins
19. Knowledge of working with APIs 
20. Good communication skills
