TheTechnical Service Representative serves as the key technical interface betweenFlint Group and its customers within the wide web flexographic and gravure printing segments.
This role specializes inwater-based and solvent-based inks and coatings used in flexible packaging applications. The position focuses ontechnical support, troubleshooting, product performance optimization, and customer engagement.
The Technical Service Representative works closely withcustomers, sales teams, R&D, manufacturing, and regulatory groups to ensure successful product implementation, strong customer relationships, and consistent technical excellence.
This role isfield-based and requires extensive regional travel across Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Customer Service
- Provide technical support to customers utilizingwide web flexographic and gravure printing systems.
- Assist customers withwater-based and solvent-based ink systems and coating applications.
- Serve as theprimary technical contact for assigned regional customers.
- Conducton-site troubleshooting and problem resolution related to ink performance, print quality, and press operations.
- Analyzeprint defects, color variation, and substrate compatibility issues.
- Optimizeink performance, viscosity, drying systems, and press settings.
- Coordinate and executepress trials, product testing, and product introductions at customer facilities.
- Conducttechnical audits and performance evaluations to improve print quality and productivity.
- Supportnew product launches and technical training initiatives.
- Partner withR&D, manufacturing, regulatory, and sales teams to deliver customized solutions.
- Provide field insights to supportproduct development and process improvements.
- Maintaintechnical service reports, documentation, and issue logs.
- Identify opportunities forprocess improvement and product optimization.
- Ensure adherence toenvironmental, safety, and regulatory requirements, includingVOC regulations and solvent handling protocols.
- Support compliance withproduct stewardship and safety standards.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's Degree preferred in:
- Chemistry
- Printing Technology
- Engineering
- Related Technical Field
- 2–5+ years of experience in technical service or manufacturing support roles
- Experience supportingprinting, packaging, or ink manufacturing environments
- Experience working withflexographic or gravure printing processes
- Knowledge ofwater-based and solvent-based inks and coatings
- Understanding ofpressroom operations and printing processes
- Experience with:
- Ink/substrate interactions
- Drying systems
- Surface treatment processes
- Print troubleshooting
- Color matching
- Strongcustomer-facing technical communication
- Ability toanalyze and resolve technical issues
- Experience working withcross-functional teams
- Strongproblem-solving and documentation skills
- Experience withcolor management systems (X-Rite or similar)
- Knowledge oflamination, coating, and converting processes
- Understanding ofVOC regulations and safety compliance
- Experience supportingflexible packaging printing operations
- Up to70% regional travel
