What to Expect

We’re hiring a builder-minded Technical Program Manager to design, ship, and continuously improve the systems and programs that shape every Tesla employee’s journey — from offer through every milestone that follows. These are high-stakes, high-visibility programs where accuracy, scale, and trust are critical: when they work, no one notices; when they break, everyone does.

You’ll work across engineering, business partners, and leadership to build programs from first principles. Rather than copying what other companies do, you’ll deeply understand what Tesla actually needs and deliver it. The ideal candidate treats programs like products — instrumenting them, measuring their impact, and iterating based on data. You’re equally comfortable writing requirements, running SQL queries, and reviewing pull requests.

What You’ll Do

  • Configure, test, and deploy LLM-powered features and agent tools in partnership with IT/Engineering teams, ensuring scalability, reliability, and high performance
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions, and find where AI can remove real bottlenecks in processes, systems, and analytics
  • Own program roadmaps, milestones, risks, and dependencies, defining success metrics and using usage data and user feedback to drive continuous improvement and clear stakeholder updates
  • Partner with subject-matter experts, legal, and stakeholders to curate and govern the content behind our AI systems, making sure it's accurate, current, cited, and appropriately access-controlled
  • Scale AI tools that prove valuable for one team across the People org, building them into the way teams already work so adoption sticks and information stays accurate and up to date
  • Establish best practices for AI system usage, document workflows, maintain SOPs, and create guides and training so non-technical teams can serve themselves

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • A track record of building and shipping things end to end, not just coordinating others who do
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python, with enough technical depth to partner closely with engineering and dig into how systems work
  • Hands-on understanding of how LLM tools work, including knowledge bases, document ingestion, prompting, and answer-quality validation
  • First-principles problem solving: you work out what's actually needed instead of copying what exists
  • Strong written communication, for both engineers and non-technical audiences
  • Product instinct: you can tell when something feels wrong to a user, not just when it crashes
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, high ownership, and moving fast in an environment where accuracy matters
