Technical Lead II – Full Stack (OpenBlue)

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Technical Lead to drive development of OpenBlue, Johnson Controls' smart-building platform. This is a lead role with strong individual contribution. You'll own technical decisions, architecture and detailed design, and write production code alongside the team

Responsibilities

• Drive end-to-end development of features, from design through to production.
• Own technical decisions, architecture and detailed design for microservices, APIs and web applications.
• Run proofs of concept (PoCs) to evaluate new technologies, approaches and solutions.
• Contribute hands-on as an individual contributor, writing high-quality, well-tested code.
• Set and uphold engineering standards through code reviews and best practices.
• Make sure solutions are secure, scalable and performant.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to speed up delivery.
• Work with product, UX, QA and DevOps teams across locations to plan and deliver work.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software development experience, including significant hands-on full stack work.
• Proven experience making architecture and design decisions and leading technical delivery.
• Strong inTypeScript,React andNode.js (NestJS).
• Solid experience designing microservices, REST/gRPC APIs andPostgreSQL data models.
• Good understanding of web security, automated testing and CI/CD.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, preferably on Azure.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have

• Kafka, Redis or real-time data streaming.
• Experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
• Experience in IoT or building systems
