Technical Lead

Core Responsibilities

1. Technical Ownership

• Own end-to-end architecture across legacy and modern systems
• Lead design decisions for enhancements, integrations, and modernization
• Ensure system stability, performance, and scalability
• Act as final authority on technical decisions (not escalate everything)

2. Legacy System Management (Critical)

• Handle and optimize:
  • Progress OpenEdge (4GL)
  • PowerBuilder applications
  • Oracle PL/SQL (complex queries, tuning)
• Identify bottlenecks and reduce technical debt
• Maintain business continuity without breaking production

3. Modernization & Transformation

• Drive transition from monolithic → service-based architecture
• Build/enable:
  • REST APIs / Web Services
  • .NET-based components (C#)
• Define roadmap for system upgrades or migration
• Introduce best practices (modularization, API layer, integration patterns)

4. Team Leadership

• Lead a team of 6–12 developers
• Assign work based on skill and criticality
• Mentor team on both legacy and modern tech
• Fix performance issues in team—not just code

5. Delivery & Execution

• Own timelines, quality, and delivery commitments
• Break requirements into realistic tasks
• Handle production incidents and escalations
• Ensure zero excuses on critical deliverables

6. Stakeholder & Client Interaction

• Work directly with business, product owners, and clients
• Translate business needs into technical solutions
• Push back on unrealistic expectations
• Provide clear and structured updates
