Job Description Summary
Job Description
The Field Engineering Program (FEP) is a structured entry-level development path that combines classroom learning, online training, and on-the-job experience. You'll work alongside seasoned TFAs to develop technical expertise in power generation equipment, build lean thinking habits, and develop the leadership skills you'll need as your career grows.
Ā
Upon successful graduation from the FEP, you will transition into a full Technical Field Advisor position ā travelling to customer sites to support installation, maintenance, and warranty work on industrial rotating equipment.
What You'll Do
- Install, maintain, calibrate, and repair industrial power generation equipment (gas and steam turbines) at customer sites, including emergency and preventive maintenance work.
- Read and interpret electrical and mechanical flow diagrams, instrument diagrams, and perform dial and laser alignment and thermal growth measurements.
- Provide technical guidance and on-site instruction to customer representatives on installation, operation, repair, and maintenance.
- Prepare accurate technical reports, job status updates, and customer records to support current and future outages.
- Work safely and consistently under GE Vernova's Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) policies ā setting the standard for your team and the customer's contractors.
- Support and coach other team members by sharing field engineering knowledge and contributing to a culture of continuous learning.
Who You Are
You're a practical, hands-on person who learns best by doing. You're comfortable in changing environments, calm under pressure, and motivated by solving real problems in the field ā not sitting behind a desk. Whether you're just starting out or coming from a technical trade background, you bring curiosity and drive, and you're ready to build your career in a role that matters.
Required Qualifications
- A technical or university degree in a relevant field āor a High School Diploma / GED (equivalent) with relevant experience in a field services or industrial maintenance role.
- Some experience in field services, power generation equipment maintenance, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams, flow charts, and instrument drawings.
- English proficiency (written and spoken).
- Willingness and availability to travel extensively, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as field assignments require.
Ā
A formal degree is nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and technical capability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Alstom, Siemens, or other original equipment manufacturer (OEM) power generation equipment.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities on a live site.
- Clear communication skills ā able to brief customers, write reports, and share knowledge with teammates.
Ā
