Technical / CAD Designer II

Summary:

• Location: Saratoga Springs, NY
• Duration: 6 Months
• Work Mode: Hybrid, 4 days in office per week
• Working Hours: 8:30am - 5pm, Monday - Friday

Responsibilities:

• Design custom protection and control solutions, including physical layouts, schematics, logic diagrams, wiring/interconnection, grounding, cable schedules, and other required custom control hardware for custom FACTS solutions for orders and proposals.
• Develop Bills of Material for all designs, ensuring consistency and quality throughout all design documentation.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of standard control documentation for FACTS equipment, including protection and control systems.
• Coordinate with offshore design resources and project team members on technical matters to meet project specifications, cost control, and schedule objectives.
• Interface with internal and external team members such as principal engineers, control engineers, civil engineers, electrical designers, project managers, engineering leaders, and support organizations.
• Facilitate the development and execution of cost reduction programs that may include low-cost vendor selection, design improvements, process improvements, automation, and new product introduction.
• Support project quality procedures and initiatives, including aspects of ISO9001.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited university or college with minimum 2 years of experience; or an Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with minimum 5 years of experience in the specific field of controls design.

Preferred Skills:

• Electrical and controls drawing experience.
• Proficient in standard drafting practices.
• Knowledge of and experience using IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEC, AUS, CSA, and NESC standards and codes, with the ability to design packages when no clear customer specification is provided.
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Demonstrated creativity and ability to be accountable for team results to deliver a high-quality product on time and under budget.
