About the Role
Client’s IR Scientific and Cloud Computing team is seeking a Technical Architect to help bring agentic biomedical research software into Client’s AWS environment and explore how it can interoperate with other research tools.
You’ll help shape the technical vision and architecture for a platform supporting AI-driven biomedical research across Client’s R&D pipeline. Working with research scientists, engineering teams, and business stakeholders, you’ll translate scientific needs into scalable, secure, and dependable cloud solutions. This role is suited to a self-starter who can work through ambiguity, take initiatives from concept to production, and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the technical architecture and implementation of an agentic biomedical research platform in Client’s AWS environment.
- Facilitate the onboarding of biomedical research software and assess interoperability with other tools and platforms.
- Partner with scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Design and support cloud and hybrid high-performance computing (HPC) solutions.
- Deploy and manage containerized workloads on Amazon EKS and Amazon ECS, using GitOps-based delivery practices.
- Address architecture needs across networking, security, identity, provisioning, storage, autoscaling, workload placement, and lifecycle operations.
- Implement monitoring and observability for cloud and containerized workloads, including metrics, dashboards, and alerting.
- Apply infrastructure-as-code, scripting, automation, and DevOps practices to support reliable operations and cost management.
- Explain architectural decisions, trade-offs, and technical concepts to a range of stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of AWS cloud services, with hands-on experience with services such as:
- Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS)
- Elastic Load Balancing, including Application Load Balancers
- Amazon S3, Amazon DocumentDB, Amazon Bedrock, and Amazon FSx
- Strong knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, including deploying and managing workloads on EKS and ECS.
- Experience with GitOps-based continuous delivery using Argo CD.
- Experience implementing monitoring and observability for cloud and containerized workloads using tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Experience architecting cloud and hybrid HPC solutions, including networking, security, identity, provisioning, storage, autoscaling, infrastructure as code, workload placement, cost management, monitoring, and lifecycle operations.
- Strong scripting, automation, and DevOps skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across scientific, engineering, and business teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS certification, such as AWS Solutions Architect or AWS DevOps.
- Knowledge of biomedical research.
- Experience with agentic development.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or another regulated industry.
