What you can expect as a Flexible Teaching Assistant:
The Flex Teaching Assistant is a critical member of the Teaching Assistant Support Team in the Deafblind School, supporting the program to provide high quality educational programming to students who are deafblind with additional disabilities, 3 - 22 years of age. As the Flex Teaching Assistant, you will partner with the Lead Teaching Assistants to support multiple areas of need as it relates to direct classroomsupport, providing meeting coverage, and additional program needs as outlined .
A typical day includes providing direct care, independent living skills training and classroom assistance, supporting program needs planning, assisting with lifting and transferring, implementing behavioral interventions and communication skills.
Education/Experience:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Passion & Experience: Experience working with individuals with special needs—whether through classroom work, professional caregiving, or volunteering—is preferred.
- Growth Mindset: Willingness to train and maintain certifications in First Aid/CPR, AED, Safety Care, and Sign Language (provided by Perkins).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with physical transfers/mobility.
- Valid Driver's License: Willingness to train for Perkins Vehicle Driver Clearance is a plus!

The following shared salary range is what Perkins reasonably expects, in good faith, to pay for the position. The applicable range could differ based on experience and qualification.
$17.68-$28.18Â
