Teacher Assistant I - Montessori Child Care Center

Hourly Pay Range:

 Position Highlights:

• Position: Teacher Assistant I
• Location: Chicago, IL
• Full Time, 40 hours
• Hours: Monday-Friday,9AM - 5:30PM
• Required Travel: no

What you will do:

• Manages arrival and dismissal of the children in the Montessori manner. 
• Maintains upkeep of the environment. 
• Makes Montessori materials under guidance of the supervising teacher. 
• Assists teacher during Montessori “work” time to guide children through “work”. 
• Organizes snack times, directs some group activities and assists with outdoor activities. 
• Attends staff meetings, in-service meetings, and participates in planning programs for Center. 
• Assists teachers at meal times. 
• Assists children/adults in toilet or diapering procedures.
• Assists Dietary Aide in distribution of food.
• Cleans tables, floors, and dishes according to City of Chicago and DCFS Standards.

What you will need:

• Education: High school diploma required.
• Certification: First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
• Experience: Experience in day care or Montessori child care/pre-school preferred.
• Unique or Preferred Skills: Organizational ability, sound judgment, ability to communicate effectively, and ability to plan and implement classroom programs to achieve institutional goals.
