Compliance Monitoring Officer

Purpose of the role 

The Compliance Monitoring Officer role is to monitor and assess the Bank’s level of compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards. The role is responsible for conducting legislation-based monitoring in line with the approved Compliance Monitoring Plan, identifying areas of non-compliance or control weaknesses, and providing accurate, timely reporting to operational management, business unit heads, and Executive Management. Working closely with the Compliance Monitoring Manager, the officer assists in developing and updating compliance-related policies, manuals, guidelines, risk assessments, procedures, processes, practices, and frameworks. 

Technical competency requirements 

• Strong understanding of compliance legislation and regulatory frameworks (not limited to FICA, FAIS, POPI, PAIA, NCA)
• Report writing and analytical skills
• Process and control evaluation
• Issue tracking and remediation oversight
• Data privacy knowledge
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and compliance tracking tools

Minimum education and experience

• Degree in Compliance or Risk Management or Audit or Finance or Legal
• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a Compliance Monitoring, Compliance Advisory, Risk Management or Internal Audit
