Founded in 1993, Northeastern Alberta Aboriginal Business
Association (NAABA) is a non-profitorganizationthat consists of a growing
interest group of Aboriginal Businesses, committed to enhancing and creating an
environment, which promotes businesses, jobs, and training for the betterment
of all Aboriginal people in the region. Our association certifies that all Full
Members are qualified by at least 51% Aboriginal ownership and are local to the
Wood Buffalo region.

General Overview:

Under the authority of the Board of Directors, the Executive
Director develops, promotes and maintains all programs, services and action
plans related to the organizations Strategic Goals, Objectives, Vision and
Mission. The Executive Director holds a key leadership position within the
community where the awareness and advancement of Aboriginal Business is
concerned.

The Executive Director should be familiar with the Wood
Buffalo Region and have a heightened awareness of Aboriginal communities and
culture. The successful candidate would have held prior roles with
non-for-profit organizations and be familiar with fundraising, government,
industry relations and the development of organizational policies and
procedures.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

• Policy management:implement board policies that are approved by the Board; administersthe
day-to-day operations of the organization
• Leadership:collaboration between membership and key stakeholders; team-building among staff and volunteers
• Program management:implementation of Strategic Business Plan goals and objectives; facilitates research, planning development and evaluation of programs and services
• Personnel management:facilitates board policy decisions to administration, management of all staff
• Financial management:administers the funds of the organization, according to the budget approved by the Board
• Risk analysis:ensure that risks and opportunities have been identified and evaluated; provide reports on organizations progress
• Advocacy Management:participate in networking and community relations activities on behalf of the organization

Education:
Post-secondary degree in a relevant field or discipline

Skills:

Demonstrated high degree of professionalism, discretion, confidentiality and independence
Strong listening, communication, interpersonal and organizational and management skills
Decision-making skills, multi-tasking and prioritizing deadlines
Flexibility to manage a broad range of complex activities and deadlines
Relationship builder, mediator and able to do public speaking
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office

Experience:
5-10 years of relevant work experience
Experience in marketing in a non-profit organization
Experience with the Oil Sands Industry and the Wood Buffalo region
Office management and events planning experience

Salary:Based on experience and qualification
