Position Summary

We are seeking a motivatedExtrusion Operator Trainee to join our manufacturing team in Sugar Land, Texas. In this role, you will undergo hands-on technical training to support and operate8 state-of-the-art Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H) blown film extrusion lines producing flexible plastic packaging film. Working alongside experienced operators, you will learn all aspects of the extrusion process—from resin blend staging and line setups to troubleshooting, quality inspection, and routine equipment maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Setup

• Learn to set up, operate, and assist in troubleshooting 8 high-speed W&H blown film extrusion machines.
• Perform line setups, die adjustments, and product changeovers according to job specifications.
• Order, stage, and handle raw resins and packaging materials; develop a working knowledge of different resin types and blend formulations.

Quality Control & Packaging

• Conduct continuous visual and dimensional quality checks on extruded film to ensure customer specifications are met.
• Promptly identify, segregate, and address non-conforming materials to minimize scrap.
• Accurately track and log production output, scrap rates, and machine downtime.
• Label, package, and palletize finished film rolls; safely operate electric walkie pallet jacks to transport materials throughout the plant.

Maintenance & Safety

• Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks, including screen changes, blade replacements, and die cleaning.
• Strictly follow all plant safety rules, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment in compliance with SQF (Safe Quality Food) and company standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Assessment: Must pass a New Hire Base Assessment Test evaluating basic arithmetic and mechanical aptitude.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Demonstrated ability to use basic hand tools and precision measuring devices (tape measure, scale, etc.).
• Computer Skills: Basic computer literacy with the ability to learn web-based operating software and manufacturing ERP systems.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Experience: Prior experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
• Shift Requirement: Must be able to work12-hour rotating shifts (2/3/2 schedule) in a 24/7/365 production facility, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout a 12-hour shift.
• Comfort working in an active industrial manufacturing plant around high-speed machinery.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
