Survey Crew Chief – Power, Energy & Land Development

Locations: Lombard or Naperville, IL offices - lots of work in NW Indiana and the Southwestern/Western Chicagoland suburbs

These roles are centered onland development,power, and renewable energy projects, giving you the opportunity to work on everything from expansive solar fields to complex construction staking for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.

What You’ll Do

• Lead field operations onlarge boundary surveys, renewable energy sites, and land development projects, ensuring quality and precision from start to finish
• Performconstruction staking for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments—setting the groundwork for successful builds
• Set control, run layout, and deliver accurate data fortopographic, boundary, and as-built surveys
• Operate and maintainTrimble equipment (GPS, total stations, data collectors) with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
• Start your day from yourcompany vehicle, heading directly to project sites that challenge and reward your expertise
• Review, verify, and fine-tune field data—because precision isn’t optional
• Maintainclear, thorough field notes to ensure seamless coordination with office and CAD teams
• Work independently or lead a small crew, taking full ownership of your projects
• Mentor junior staff—sharing your knowledge, experience, and commitment to doing things the right way
• Participate intraining, industry conferences, and development opportunities to keep your skills sharp

What You Bring

• 7+ years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief
• Strong experience withlarge boundary surveys andpower/renewable energy projects
• Proven background inconstruction staking and land development (residential, commercial, mixed-use)
• Expertise usingTrimble equipment and Trimble Business Center
• Ability to read and interpretengineering plans, plats, and survey data with confidence
• Strong communication and leadership skills—keeping your crew aligned and projects on track
• High attention to detail and pride in delivering accurate, reliable work
• Flexibility to travel occasionally for large-scale or specialized projects
