Role Overview

As a Surgical Scheduler, you play a critical role in ensuring the efficient use of operating rooms, equipment, and staff. You will coordinate surgery schedules, working closely with physician offices to accommodate their requests and meet patient needs. Your efforts directly contribute to the smooth operation of our surgical services, enhancing patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

What You Will Do

• Work with physician offices to gather information needed to schedule surgeries consistent with department guidelines and accommodating physicians¿ requests and patients¿ needs.
• Assign operating suites and equipment and block times to maximize efficient use of resources.
• Ensure necessary demographic, billing, and insurance information is entered into electronic medical records and coordinate with Patient Admitting as needed to prevent delays in scheduled surgery.
• Reschedule surgeries as needed to accommodate emergencies or other unanticipated events.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency
• 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of two years in a healthcare setting
• Familiar with insurances/authorizations
