Job Description
BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 Company, is hiring a Supply Chain Manager I for our GOCO (government owned contractor operated) facility located in Radford, VA. This role will manage a group of Supply Chain production planners and report to the Director of Purchasing & Planning.Â- Location: Hybrid role located in Radford, VA.
- Travel: Up to 10% travel is required
- Schedule: 9/80 schedule
Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of Supply Chain production planners.
- Support Radford Operations by assisting with development of production schedules, monitoring inventory, assessing/managing storage options, assessing transportation options for critical suppliers, and working with Strategic Sourcing to manage critical suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Develop and implement long-term supply chain strategies and master production schedules that align resource utilization and customer demand.
- Lead the strategic optimization of critical inputs, including planning calendars, lead times, time fences, safety stocks, and lot-sizing logic to improve systemic accuracy and efficiency.
- Synchronize communication between manufacturing, sales, and supply chain executives to resolve conflicts between demand and capacity.
- Proactively identify systemic bottlenecks and forecasted disruptions; develop contingency plans and recommend alternatives.
- Establish KPIs and data-driven frameworks that transform raw production insights into actionable decisions.
- Partner with stakeholders on the development and implementation of continuous improvement projects for planning, scheduling, and risk mitigation.
- Train and mentor junior level planning team members.
- Drive department objectives with a wide degree of creativity and continuous improvement approach.
Required Skills and Education
- Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience
- Experience in Master/Production Planning or Scheduling
- Experience in Inventory/Materials Management
- Knowledge of Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP)
- Knowledge of Manufacturing processes
- Ability to support project management, planning, and coordination
- Ability to monitor performance and report production status to leadership and cross-functional teams
- Ability to present to leadership team, production team, and customers
- Strong data analytics and reporting skills
- Strong problem solving skills
- Proficient in ERP System (Oracle, SAP, Fourth Shift)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Preferred Skills and Education
- Graduate Degree
- APICS/ASCM Certified
- Experience in Aerospace & Defense
- Experience in Lean & Six Sigma
- Experience in Root Cause and Corrective Action
- Experience in Supply Chain, Demand Planning, Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), Inventory Management, Capacity Planning
