About the Role

MITY Inc. is looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Assurance Manager to lead quality improvement efforts with our domestic and international suppliers.

This role focuses on ensuring the quality of incoming raw materials, components, and finished goods while working directly with suppliers to identify issues, improve processes, and prevent recurring defects.

The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and relationship-focused, with a strong understanding of manufacturing quality standards and a passion for continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and improve supplier quality assurance processes for domestic and international suppliers.
• Monitor incoming material and finished goods quality, identifying trends, defects, and opportunities for improvement.
• Partner directly with suppliers to investigate quality issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct supplier audits, factory visits, and quality assessments to ensure consistent standards and performance.
• Oversee quality inspections for internationally sourced finished goods, including pre-shipment inspections and factory quality controls.
• Establish and maintain supplier scorecards, quality metrics, inspection standards, and corrective action tracking.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Production, Engineering, and Logistics to resolve quality concerns and support supplier development.
• Support new supplier qualification, material approvals, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Stay current with quality management practices and identify opportunities to strengthen MITY's supplier quality program.

What We’re Looking For

8–10 years of experience in supplier quality assurance, quality management, or supplier development within a manufacturing environment. A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field is preferred.

Strong understanding of root cause analysis, corrective action processes, supplier audits, and quality improvement methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, Lean, or Six Sigma. Experience analyzing quality data, managing supplier performance, and implementing sustainable process improvements is important.

Experience with internationally sourced finished goods, factory inspections, and overseas supplier relationships is required. Familiarity with wood, metal, textiles, furniture manufacturing, or related materials is a plus. ASQ certifications and experience with PPAP or formal supplier approval processes are also preferred.

Must be comfortable working directly with suppliers, communicating across departments, and influencing improvements without direct authority.Domestic and international travel, including Asia, is required, typically several trips per year.
