Supervisor Quality Control

Join our team at Scientific Protein Laboratories (SPL), a world leader in biosourced pharmaceuticals, located just outside of Madison, Wisconsin in Waunakee!  SPL is an innovative biopharmaceutical leader with unique products and services supporting the pharmaceutical industry globally.  For over 40 years, SPL has specialized in the development and cGMP compliant manufacturing of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).  SPL has an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Supervisor, Quality Control.

The Supervisor, Quality Control leads quality oversight activities for the QC Chemistry laboratory.  You will have a professional staff performing biological, chemical, and physical analysis on pharmaceutical products through all stages of the manufacturing process from incoming raw materials to finished. You will be responsible for results regarding product quality and conformance to regulations and quality policies.

 You will plan and coordinate daily QC lab activities working in partnership with your colleagues in the organization. You will schedule workloads for your direct reports to meet testing and production requirements.

• Lead, train, coach, and develop team members while coordinating activities and maintaining clear communication across personnel and departments.
• Provide floor support to testing teams, identify procedural gaps, implement corrective actions, and escalate issues appropriately.
• Use applicable laboratory and business systems, including  Chromeloen, OMNIS, Labware, Master Control, and other related computer systems, to support quality operations and documentation.
• Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering to resolve compliance issues, evaluate testing requirements, and maintain accurate procedures and controlled documentation.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or several years of related experience.

Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years of related or laboratory experience is required.
• Experience in biochemical, analytical, or related laboratory operations is preferred.
• Experience in a GMP-regulated or comparable regulated environment is required.
• Experience with eQMS and LIMS is required.
• Previous supervisory, management, or team-leadership experience is preferred. Candidates with extensive laboratory experience and demonstrated leadership potential may also be considered.
• Experience coaching employees, providing feedback, and supporting employee development is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, documentation practices, quality requirements, and compliance expectations is preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are required.
• The ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain accountability, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams is required.
