Our Client, an Automotive company, is looking for a Supervisor – Logistics for their Redford, MI location.
Responsibilities:
- The main function of a supervisor/manager – production is to supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operating workers.
- The Logistics Supervisor will oversee and coordinate the activities of hourly employees across multiple axle assembly and logistics operations on the second shift at the Detroit Manufacturing Plant.
- This position was created to support the addition of a Drop Line second shift and will be responsible for managing a team of up to 30 hourly employees at any given time.
- The Logistics Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining shop floor efficiency, ensuring parts availability, and driving performance against key operational metrics in a UAW environment.
- Implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
- Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
- Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, and maintenance to detect production problems.
- Hire, train, evaluate, and discharge staff, and resolve personal grievances.
- Set and monitor product standards to ensure quality finished products.
- Prepare and maintain production reports and personnel records.
Requirements:
- Verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
- Education/Experience:
- 5-7 years experience required.
- Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business or a related field preferred
- 7 to 8 years of relevant supervisory experience, preferably in the automotive industry
- Experience supervising in a UAW environment
- Strong verbal communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and manufacturing distribution
- Knowledge of machinery, tools, and equipment maintenance
- Preferred Qualifications
- SAP experience
- Power BI experience
- Experience managing KPIs through large-scale dashboard tools
- Automotive industry background
- Top 3 must-have hard skills
- 7 to 8 years of supervisory experience required (preferably in the automotive industry)
- Experience working in a UAW environment
- High School Diploma (minimum requirement), bachelor’s degree or associate degree (preferred)
