Position Summary:
The Supervisor, 340B & Specialty Pharmacy is a senior pharmacy leadership position responsible for identifying, developing, implementing, and overseeing strategic pharmacy initiatives that enhance revenue generation, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and patient care services across the health system.
This position serves as the organizational subject matter expert for the 340B Drug Pricing Program and is responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance, optimization, auditing, and expansion of 340B opportunities. Additionally, the coordinator will lead the evaluation, planning, and implementation of new pharmacy service lines and business ventures, including but not limited to Specialty Pharmacy Programs Services, and other emerging pharmacy-related revenue opportunities.
The position requires a highly experienced pharmacist with strong business acumen, project management expertise, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to collaborate effectively with executive leadership, finance, compliance, medical staff, and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities:
340B Program Oversight
- Serve as the organizational lead for all aspects of the 340B Drug Pricing Program.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls supporting 340B compliance.
- Monitor program performance, savings, and financial opportunities.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and corrective action plans.
- Collaborate with Finance, Compliance, Revenue Cycle, Information Technology, and Pharmacy Operations to optimize program performance.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with HRSA regulations and applicable state and federal requirements.
- Evaluate opportunities for program expansion and contract pharmacy optimization.
- Provide routine reporting and education to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
Specialty Pharmacy Program Expansion
- Lead the strategic development, implementation, and growth of the organization's Specialty Pharmacy Program.
- Evaluate specialty pharmacy service opportunities that align with organizational goals, patient populations, and financial objectives.
- Develop business plans, pro forma analyses, and implementation strategies for specialty pharmacy expansion initiatives.
- Assess accreditation requirements and lead organizational readiness efforts for specialty pharmacy accreditation programs.
- Collaborate with physicians, clinic leaders, finance, information technology, revenue cycle, and pharmacy operations to establish specialty service lines.
- Identify opportunities to capture limited distribution drugs, manufacturer relationships, and payer contracts that support specialty pharmacy growth.
- Develop workflows supporting patient enrollment, prior authorization, financial assistance, medication access, adherence monitoring, and clinical outcomes reporting.
- Establish key performance indicators related to patient outcomes, medication adherence, financial performance, and operational efficiency.
- Monitor specialty pharmacy reimbursement trends, payer requirements, and emerging market opportunities.
- Coordinate with ambulatory care, infusion services, and 340B operations to maximize integrated care delivery and revenue optimization.
- Support ongoing compliance with specialty pharmacy accreditation standards, state and federal regulations, and payer requirements.
- Provide education and strategic recommendations to executive leadership regarding specialty pharmacy growth opportunities and market developments.
Project Management
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams.
- Develop project charters, timelines, budgets, and implementation plans.
- Coordinate resources and stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Identify barriers, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Provide regular project status updates to leadership.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Financial Stewardship
- Develop business cases supporting pharmacy investments and new service lines.
- Monitor project budgets and financial performance.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
- Collaborate with Director of Pharmacy and Finance on forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
- Support contract negotiations and vendor evaluations related to strategic initiatives.
- Regulatory and Accreditation Support.
- Maintain awareness of evolving pharmacy regulations and reimbursement opportunities.
- Support compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, HRSA, USP, and other applicable standards.
- Assist with accreditation efforts related to specialty pharmacy and other service lines.
- Develop policies and procedures supporting regulatory compliance.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Serve as a resource to pharmacy leadership and organizational stakeholders.
- Foster collaboration across departments and service lines.
- Mentor pharmacy staff involved in project initiatives.
- Represent pharmacy services on organizational committees and workgroups.
- Present recommendations and project outcomes to executive leadership.
- Will contribute Pharmacist services to the daily operations as needed.
Qualifications
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Current Pharmacist licensure in the State of North Dakota or eligibility for licensure.
Educational Requirements:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years progressive pharmacy leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience with healthcare operations, financial management, and project leadership.
Special Skills or Training Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of pharmacy reimbursement, regulatory requirements, and healthcare business operations.
- Experience leading 340B programs preferred.
- Experience with specialty pharmacy and pharmacy business development preferred.
- Strong strategic planning and business development skills.
- Advanced financial analysis and budgeting capabilities.

Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity are essential for reviewing medication orders, operating pharmacy systems, and interacting with staff and providers.
Environmental Requirements:
This position operates in pharmacy and clinical care settings with routine exposure to medications, automated dispensing equipment, and normal pharmacy-related noise. Work may include periods in patient care areas where adherence to infection-prevention protocols and safety standards is required.
