Sumo Monitoring Engineer - Hybrid

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Sumo Monitoring Engineer - Hybrid position with a Regional Health Insurance Provider located in Eagan, MN. This is a 9+ month contract opportunity.

Compensation: $72.00 - $82.00 per hour, W2, based on qualifications

Position Overview:
This role is focused on developing and implementing monitoring solutions for application and system integrations. The ideal candidate will translate business monitoring needs into technical solutions, establish monitoring coverage using tools like Sumo Logic, and help teams identify and troubleshoot issues within a complex enterprise environment featuring extensive integrations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain Sumo Logic dashboards
• Build log search queries and write SQL queries to retrieve and analyze relevant data
• Configure monitors, alerts, and health checks
• Work with application owners and API developers to define alert rules and thresholds
• Perform log analysis and troubleshooting
• Identify trends, failures, bottlenecks, and root causes
• Understand source categories, log ingestion, and monitoring coverage gaps
• Review application and integration architecture, solution diagrams, and data flows
• Support monitoring across APIs, microservices, integrations, batch jobs, file transfers, and messaging systems
• Research available data sources and determine what can be monitored
• Develop monitoring strategies that support business and technical needs

Primary Requirements:

• Approximately 2-3+ years of relevant monitoring or observability experience
• Hands-on experience with Sumo Logic, Splunk, Datadog, Dynatrace, or a comparable monitoring platform
• Experience creating dashboards, analyzing logs, and configuring alerts
• Strong query skills, including working SQL proficiency
• Understanding of metrics, logs, traces, monitoring strategies, health checks, and alert threshold design
• Ability to understand application architecture and integration data flows
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with application teams, architects, developers, and support teams
• Ability to explain technical concepts to business users

Desired Skills:

• Sumo Logic experience
• Healthcare industry experience
