The Assurant Internship Program is a 12-week immersive experience where interns do not sit on the sidelines. You will gain real-world experience by tackling business challenges and helping drive meaningful outcomes. The program combines hands-on work with learning and development opportunities, mentorship, networking and engagement opportunities, and resources designed to support your professional growth.  This program offers students meaningful, real-world experience while building foundational technical and business skills in a Fortune 500 organization.


The Ethics & Compliance Intern will gain hands-on experience across multiple compliance disciplines while supporting strategic initiatives that advance Assurant's culture of integrity and responsible innovation. Through a rotational program, the intern will work with a number of Ethics & Compliance teams, contributing to projects involving regulatory compliance, ethics and investigations, policy governance, risk management, and emerging technologies.


A key component of the internship will be a capstone project focused on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within Ethics & Compliance. The intern will research, evaluate, and recommend innovative approaches that enhance compliance effectiveness, operational efficiency, and employee engagement.

This internship is designed for candidates who are curious, analytical, and interested in the intersection of compliance, ethics, technology, and business operations.



What You Will Do


Rotational Experience:

The intern will rotate through multiple Ethics & Compliance teams, which may include:

  • Business Unit Compliance
  • Ethics and investigations
  • Compliance communications and training
  • Risk assessment and monitoring
  • Enterprise policy management
  • Compliance operations and reporting

Potential Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with research related to regulatory requirements, industry trends, and emerging risks.
  • Support the development, review, and maintenance of compliance policies, procedures, and governance documents.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports, dashboards, presentations, and executive summaries.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve compliance processes and operational efficiencies, including from the AI lens.
  • Participate in compliance risk assessments, monitoring activities, and program evaluations.
  • Assist in developing employee communications, training materials, and awareness campaigns.
  • Collaborate with team members across multiple business functions and compliance disciplines.
  • Present findings and recommendations to Ethics & Compliance leadership.

AI & Compliance Capstone Project:

As part of the internship experience, the intern will:

  • Explore how AI and emerging technologies can enhance Ethics & Compliance programs.
  • Assess opportunities to improve compliance processes through automation, analytics, and responsible AI practices.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews and research leading practices across industries.
  • Develop recommendations for practical AI use cases within Ethics & Compliance.
  • Deliver a final presentation summarizing findings, recommendations, and potential business impact.

Qualifications


Required

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in: Business, Risk Management, Compliance, Law, Public Policy, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related field

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skill risk management, governance, or regulatory affairs.
  • Interest in artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and responsible innovation.
  • Experience with data analysis, research projects, or process improvement initiatives.
  • ·Demonstrated leadership through academic, volunteer, or extracurricular activities.

Paid Internship: $20 -22/hour
