Description:
Our client is seeking a Studio Manager specializing in Finance & Operations to oversee the financial, operational, and administrative functions of the practice. Reporting directly to the Principal, this individual will take ownership of the firm's business operations, allowing the design leadership to focus on architecture, mentorship, and business development.

Responsibilities will include firm-wide budgeting, financial forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting, as well as project financial management, including fee tracking, billing, consultant costs, and project profitability. The Studio Manager will also oversee invoicing, collections, accounts payable, payroll, benefits administration, contracts, fee proposals, insurance renewals, and firm registrations.

Additional responsibilities will include staffing and project resource planning, developing AI-assisted tools and workflows to improve operational efficiency, and collaborating with the Principal on business planning, growth strategy, and long-term firm operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a financially savvy, highly organized professional with a strong understanding of architecture and design firm operations who enjoys taking initiative and building efficient systems.

Required:

  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting

  • Working knowledge of how architectural and design projects are scoped, staffed, contracted, billed, and delivered

  • Proficiency with accounting and financial software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, and Gusto

  • Demonstrated experience with AI tools, including Claude Code within Terminal, with the ability to build or automate workflows

  • Exceptional organizational skills, follow-through, and attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Intellectual curiosity, initiative, and a strong academic background

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

  • SDA Certificate in Design Firm Operations (CDFO), or an interest in earning it, is a plus
