Job Description

The Student Media and Marketing Student Lead directly supports the Coordinator, Student Publications and Marketing in the Center for student Engagement in overseeing all daily operations within the scope of position. For Inkblot, this includes managing and organizing project schedules, timelines, and payments, checking in with the Graphic Designers and Inkblot - Photo-Video Team Manager. This role helps maintain timelines and project quality, and facilitating internal processes and external communications. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented student leader with a passion for creative strategy, project management, and team collaboration. For Student Media, this included help managing workday hour submissions, prepping training and meeting such as Development Day for the Center for Student Engagement and Student Media Advisory Board. Additionally, this student would help work with student media to develop training documents and timelines in coordination with the Student Media Leads. 


Consequences of Error/Responsibility for Decisions  

The Student Media and Marketing Student Lead is a key figure in ensuring the quality of Inkblot’s promotion. Therefore, any mistakes made have a chance of directly affecting more than just Inkblot. We are a student-funded organization, so we always want to be using our resources toward the benefit of those students. Wastefulness is not encouraged. 


Responsibilities

  • Attend and contribute to weekly Project Meetings.  
  • Attend and contribute to weekly staff meetings.  
  • Hold Graphic Designers accountable for staying up to date on projects in the Project Management Software.  
  • Assist Inkblot Graphic Designer in facilitating Client Meetings.  
  • Manage W2W schedule for Inkblot Team members 
  • Manage and correct hours on Workday and system for students reporting to the Coordinator, Student Publications and Marketing 
  • Ensure contact for printing and other physical/digital media (Visix) are being maintained 
  • Manage CSE promotional event calendars 
  • Supporting Print Release procedures with Marcom 
  • Maintain contact for needs of Student Media and support as needed 
  • Collaborate to ensure project management software is being maintained and utilized  
  • Ensure projects are being completed on time and with good quality.  
  • Ensure all designs are accessible and brand compliant.  
  • Assisting the Director  
  • The assistant director will be expected to assist the director with planning and implementing new marketing plans when they come up.  
  • In certain cases, work with the teams to assign projects, deadlines, and design aesthetics for projects to designers.  
  • Review finished work orders with director to identify strengths and weaknesses of each project and to make sure everything is fulfilled.  
  • Manage print inventory, mailboxes, and check out system 
  • Be prepared to discuss any and all projects during Weekly Staff Meetings.  
  • Reporting In collaboration with Inkblot.

Shared Responsibilities with Inkblot - Photo-Video Team Manager 

  • Reports  
  • Monthly Inkblot Requests.  
  • Counting which Departments use our services on a monthly basis.  
  • Creating progress reports for timelines on projects.  
  • Organize and file Print Release numbers.  
  • Memo  
  • Strategizing any necessary Marketing adjustments.  
  • Flyer/Print Distribution and ordering.  
  • Meet regularly with the staff advisor and team for check-ins.  
  • Manage Calendars  
  • Outlook Up to Date (Especially for Photo/Video Bookings)  
  • Manage Agendas for Staff Meeting  
  • Document presence of staff during meetings.  
  • Document projects that are discussed during meetings.  
  • Document topics discussed during meetings   
  • Build on manual and training foundations  
  • Have a reflective session to figure out how to improve  
  • Ensure the website is up to date    

Required Qualifications  

  • Currently an undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno.  
  • Candidate must maintain a 2.0 GPA and be enrolled full time  
  • Have a good eye for detail.  
  • Have excellent communication skills.  
  • Have a working knowledge of ASUN, Inkblot, and University policies and why they exist.   
  • Understand the ASUN, Inkblot, Student Media, and client working environment.  
  • Develop an understanding of Inkblot resources and organization tools.  
  • Demonstrate respect in any interactions.  
  • Demonstrate excellent organization skills.  
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail.  
  • Be familiar with Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Teams, Canva, and Outlook.  
  • Be able to understand the big picture. Ex. How everything works together and what each step will lead to.  
  • Be self-motivated to improve our organization.  
  • Have the ability to prepare reports and proposals when necessary.  
  • Develop knowledge of Apple computers.  
  • Be able to walk 1-2 miles easily.  
  • Be able to work within deadlines.  
  • Be impartial while working.  
  • Must be able to work at least 10 hours in the office per week. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Valid Driver's license 
  • Ability to drive occasionally in departmental vehicles.
