Join Service Stream in our newest acquisition for the Victoria West ITS Maintenance Contract (VIMC) as our Asset Engineer!About the Role
We are excited to launchnew roles in our Transport division to support our two new long-term Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) maintenance contracts awarded by the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning. The Victoria West ITS Maintenance Contract (VIMC) will see our teams maintain more than 4,500 ITS assets across 27 Local Government Areas, covering around a third of metropolitan Melbourne and extending west to the South Australian border. We also have the Motorway Communications Network Contract, which connects more than 2,000 roadside devices including lane use management signs, variable speed limit signs, freeway ramp signals, CCTV and sensor technologies, while also connecting private road operators with Victoria’s transport control system.
About the Role:
As our Asset Engineer you will support safe, reliable and whole-of-life performance of VIMC assets through engineering analysis, asset strategies, condition and defect assessment, maintenance optimisation and forward works planning.
Key responsibilities include:
- Asset Performance
- Analyse asset condition, fault, inspection and maintenance data to identify deterioration, reliability risks, recurring failures and improvement priorities.
- Develop recommendations that balance safety, service performance, lifecycle cost and contract obligations
- Asset Strategies and Plans
- Develop and maintain asset management plans, maintenance strategies, lifecycle models and forward works recommendations for assets listed in the VIMC contract asset schedule.
- Support asset baseline validation, critical and high-risk site reviews and changes to asset information.
- Engineering Assurance
- Provide engineering input to defect classification, repair methods, maintenance frequencies, technical procedures and work scopes.
- Review technical outputs and ensure recommendations align with approved standards, specifications and engineering governance.
- Data and Stakeholders
- Maintain the integrity of engineering and asset records and support DTP reporting, assurance and audit requirements.
- Work with DTP, TOC, delivery, systems specialists, contractors and suppliers to resolve asset performance issues.
About You:
Our ideal candidate will have experience in asset management, reliability engineering, maintenance engineering or infrastructure engineering, preferably involving ITS, electrical, communications or road assets.
You may also have:
- Experience analysing defects, condition information and maintenance performance.
- Degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Eligibility for relevant professional registration is desirable.
- Experience in people management is desirable.
- Current Victorian driver licence.
- Asset lifecycle, reliability, defect and risk analysis.
- Clear technical writing and ability to turn complex information into practical recommendations.
- Competence with asset management, GIS, works management, analytics and Microsoft 365 tools.
