PositionSummary

• The Certified Nursing Aide is responsible for providing routine daily nursing care to assigned patients to assure patient safety and attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each patient in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and MUSC Health standards.
• Reports to unitnurse

WorkingConditions

• Attends and participates in continuing educationprograms
• Works in department as well as throughoutfacility
• Subject to frequent interruptions
• Involved with patients, care team members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc. under all conditions andcircumstances
• Subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, etc.
• Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays, and in other positions temporarily asnecessary
• Subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc. throughout theworkday
• Possible exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and hepatitis Bviruses

Education, Experience, andLicensure/Certifications

• Must be a graduate of a State-approved CNA program
• Must be currently registered/licensed in applicable State. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughoutemployment.
• One (1) year geriatric nursing experiencepreferred
• Must have CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current duringemployment.

SpecificRequirements

• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm as well as willingness to handle difficultpatients
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant suchaction
• Must be knowledgeable of nursing practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the post-acute care facility
• Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the nursingdepartment
• Must perform proficiently in all applicable competencyareas
• Maintains professional working relationships with all care team members, vendors,etc.
• Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidentialinformation
• Must understand and follow company policies including harassment and complianceprocedures
• Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to MUSC Health’sCode of Conductand completes mandatoryCode of Conductand other appropriate compliance training

EssentialFunctions

• Must be able to lift, turn, move, position, and transportpatients
• Must be able to assist patients with baths, showers, personal grooming, feeding, and toileting
• Must be able to accurately document and chart patientcare
• Must be able to respond to call lightspromptly

• Must exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towardspatients
• Must be able to assist in the evacuation ofpatients
• Must demonstrate dependable, regularattendance
• Must be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and goodjudgment
• Must be able to communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
• Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during workinghours
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Must be able to lift 35 lbs floor to waist, lift 35 lbs waist to shoulder, lift and carry 35 lbs, and push/pull 35lbs
