Working with production, maintenance, quality, R&D, EHS, automation, project management, vendors, and contractors, the engineer improves safety, quality, yield, capacity, reliability, and cost performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support equipment upgrades, process development/modifications, and continuous-improvement initiatives from design through startup and performance verification.
  • Qualify, evaluate, troubleshoot, and optimize manufacturing processes, equipment, workflows, and operating conditions.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, process descriptions, equipment specifications, calculations, reports, and operating procedures.
  • Conduct process calculations, equipment-sizing evaluations, capacity studies, process simulations, and statistical data analysis.
  • Support process recipe creation, testing, validation, and process integration.
  • Partner with project managers to define scope, manage technical risks, track progress, and support schedules, estimates, and corrective actions.
  • Participate in design, process-safety, risk, and management-of-change reviews.
  • Develop and execute commissioning plans, startup procedures, test protocols, and acceptance criteria.
  • Investigate process issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure processes and designs are safe, compliant, operable, and maintainable.
  • Identify and implement improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC, DOE, 8D, FMEA, and related methodologies.
  • Prepare trial summaries and present to upper-level managers and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2 years of process, manufacturing, or project engineering experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with process improvement, equipment upgrades, process development, or manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to develop and review process documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, calculations, and equipment specifications.
  • Experience supporting construction, commissioning, startup, production troubleshooting, or field activities.
  • Strong data analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to present statistical data to cross-functional teams by using software and appropriate tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and statistical-analysis software, such as JMP.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with process-design or project-management tools, such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, AutoCAD Plant 3D, MATLAB, Microsoft Project, or Primavera.
  • Knowledge of process equipment, instrumentation, automation, PLC, SCADA, DCS, and control systems.
  • Familiarity with process-safety methods, including HAZOP, What-If, PHA, LOPA, FMEA, and Management of Change.
  • Knowledge of applicable standards and regulations, including OSHA, NFPA, ASME, API, ISA, EPA, GMP, FDA, or ISO.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, PE, or EIT certification.

Work Environment

Primarily on-site in office, manufacturing, and construction environments. Periodic travel to nearby Client sites (10 - 12 min drive) and occasional off-hours support may be required for project activities, shutdowns, commissioning, or startup.
