Staff Engineer - Product and Platform Engineering

Experience bar:

• Min. 8 years in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role

• Proven delivery track record; experience managing and mentoring engineering teams

Technical areas to assess:

• .NET / C# proficiency

• FDD and Kanban methodology depth

• Serverless AWS cloud platforms

• SDLC tooling — Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence

• DORA / SPACE metrics — experience using these to drive team productivity

• CI/CD pipeline ownership and implementation

Leadership areas to assess:

• People management — 1:1s, performance reviews, coaching

• Translating business strategy into engineering priorities

• Stakeholder communication, including to non-technical audiences

• Data-driven decision-making on delivery metrics

• Quality assurance culture — coding standards, testing protocols, continuous improvement

• Change management — introducing new tools, processes, or methodologies to a team

Key behaviors to probe:

• How do they handle underperformance while maintaining team morale?

• How do they balance technical debt against feature delivery under pressure?

• How do they keep engineers engaged and growing in a legacy environment?
