- Second in rank in the ship’s Engineering Department. Assists the Chief Engineer and is capable of taking over as Chief Engineer should circumstances require.
- Provides professional and social guidance to subordinates by exemplary personal leadership.
- Supervises the Watch Engineers and provides them with assistance if necessary.
- Responsible for the proper functioning and maintenance of the equipment specified in AMOS for this position and those subordinate to it.
- Administers the AMOS system for the entire Engineering Dept. – distributes monthly PM jobs to the officers responsible for their performance.
- In charge of spares, stores and inventory control of the entire Engineering Dept.
- Responsible for requisitioning within the Engineering Dept, except for requisitioning assigned to the Chief Electrical Engineer and First Engineer.
- Coordinates Engineering Dept actions for surveys, inspections, audits & exercises, by Lloyd’s, USCG, USPH, DCL, etc., as directed by the Chief Engineer.
- Carries out and documents maintenance, repairs and modifications within the Engineering Spaces as required for Continuous Machinery Surveys (CMS).
- Bilge cleanliness in Engineering Spaces including void spaces under Dept. control.
- Coordinates with other Depts. to determine work to be done around the ship.
- Coordinates training and other HR matters for the Engineering Dept. and administers Eng. Dept. disciplinary actions.
- Ensures that personnel files for the positions under them in the chain of command are maintained (working with HR Manager)
- In attendance in the Engine Control Room during “Stand by” situations as directed by the Chief Engineer.
- Emergency Duties as specified in the ship’s Assembly / Emergency Function Plan
- Other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer

This is a SHIPBOARD role.You must:
- Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
- Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities, and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
- Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
- If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulations
- Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
- Complete a pre-employment medical
- Obtain a criminal background check
- Bring approved work shoes
