Staff Accountant I

Overview

Responsibilities

• Own and manage end-to-end accounting processes, projects, and operational workstreams
• Work independently with minimal supervision while managing priorities, deliverables, and timelines
• Develop project plans, establish milestones, monitor progress, and ensure successful completion of assigned initiatives
• Perform financial and operational analysis to identify trends, risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement
• Conduct root cause analysis and resolve complex accounting and operational issues
• Drive process improvement initiatives and recommend enhancements to existing workflows and procedures
• Develop, monitor, and analyze operational metrics, KPIs, and performance measures
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding project status, issues, and recommendations
• Collaborate across departments to improve processes, strengthen controls, and enhance operational efficiency
• Share best practices and provide guidance, coaching, and training to peers and junior team members
• Support continuous improvement efforts and contribute to department performance objectives
• Influence operational practices by presenting solutions and partnering with stakeholders to implement improvements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of professional accounting or finance experience
• Experience working in:
  • Accounting Operations
  • Finance Operations
  • Transaction-processing environments
  • Similar accounting-focused operational roles
• Proven ability to independently manage projects and end-to-end business processes
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience resolving issues involving multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Ability to prioritize work, manage deadlines, and deliver results with minimal supervision
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing and implementing process improvements
• Experience creating and monitoring performance measures and KPIs
• Experience driving operational efficiency initiatives
• Experience training, mentoring, or coaching peers and junior colleagues
