About The Job:

• Experience :- 12+ Years relevant in SQL DBA
• Shift Timing :- 05:30 PM IST to 02:30 AM IST
• Sr Database Admin will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our client applications.
• This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Must HAVE SKILS

• Minimum 12 Years as SQL Database Administrator
• Must have minimum 5+ Years in Azure Cloud (Paas & IaaS)
• Minimum 8 Years in Performance Tuning & Optimization
• Should have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Should have Lead experience & should act as SME with hands on in core SQL & AZURE DBA

Essential Job Functions:

• Serve as the primary engineering DBA supporting 400+ application databases across Operations Technology and Information Security SDGs, including highly critical systems such as OPSYS, AAA, and IIQ. Ensure database stability and performance during application releases and peak operational periods.
• Act as the mandated reviewer for all SQL code, enforcing enterprise-level quality, consistency, and adherence to standards as required by application leadership. Lead the formal SQL review process, significantly reducing production incidents related to inefficient or poorly designed SQL.
• Conduct detailed, deep-dive code reviews, including execution plan analysis, indexing recommendations, and code optimization. Perform iterative testing and tuning to improve performance and reliability while meeting tight delivery timelines aligned to application Program Increment (PI) objectives.
• Partner closely with application teams to influence database design decisions, ensuring alignment with upcoming releases, long-term scalability, and architectural stability.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to application developers on SQL coding standards, performance tuning techniques, and database best practices to elevate overall team capability.
• Enforce strict adherence to enterprise security standards, maintaining zero outstanding security tracking items across supported applications.
• Lead coordination and execution of SQL Server and operating system end-of-life (EOL) initiatives, ensuring timely upgrades and alignment to supported platforms.
• Designs and supports high availability architectures, including Always On Availability Groups and Distributed Availability Groups with automatic seeding, multi-site replication, and read-scale capabilities.
• Contributes to cloud modernization efforts, including Azure SQL IaaS and PaaS design, implementation, workload migration, and platform readiness.
• Supports Azure SQL PaaS solutions, including elastic pools, serverless compute, performance tier selection, scaling, failover groups, and security integration.
• Uses enterprise monitoring and capacity planning tools such as SQLSentry, Redgate, or similar platforms to improve visibility, forecasting, and operational stability.
• Builds scripting and automation solutions using PowerShell, SQL Agent, and custom utilities to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention.
• Advanced troubleshooting beyond routine administration.
• Supports security and compliance requirements, including TDE, auditing, access control, and regulatory compliance needs.

Qualifications:
Skills & Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience on SQL Server 2012/2016 & above versions in database administration, in an enterprise environment with multiple database servers is required.
• Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
• Experience with database administration.
• Experience with incident and problem queue management.
• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
• Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, problem solving skills.
• Flexible, team player, “get-it-done” personality.
• Ability to work independently, with little or no direct supervision.
• Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams.
• Strong ITIL foundation, Continual Service Improvement and Total Quality Management experiences.
