What to Expect
The Tesla Energy Software team is looking for a software engineer to help build the tools and automation behind the engineering and field-service application used to commission, monitor, and debug Tesla's utility-scale Megapack sites and Supercharger stations.Â
You'll build full-stack diagnostics features and the test automation that keeps them reliable, so field engineers, commissioners, and remote operators can bring industrial energy and charging assets online faster. While this role doesn't require you to come in as an expert on battery and energy systems, you'll work directly on the software that gets Megapacks and Superchargers running in the field.Â
You'll join a multidisciplinary product team and work closely with Product Managers, firmware and hardware engineers, service and diagnostics teams, Operations, and Data Analysts. Owning features end to end, from back-end services to the UI engineers rely on every day.Â
What You’ll Do
- Develop robust automated firmware/software testing solutions in TypeScript and Python, ensuring high reliability and repeatabilityÂ
- Design and develop full-stack applications (React, TypeScript, Go) that deliver critical insights into Tesla's energy systemsÂ
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and intelligent analysis tools to accelerate testing and development cyclesÂ
- Develop AI agents that automate test generation, prioritization, refinement, and anomaly detection, optimizing coverage and testing velocityÂ
- Collaborate with system integration, software, and firmware engineers to develop automated test scriptsÂ
- Improve and maintain our web- and desktop-based diagnostics platformÂ
- Debug issues in production, root-cause them, and apply fixes in a timely mannerÂ
What You’ll Bring
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experienceÂ
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experienceÂ
- Strong working knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks (React.js, TypeScript)Â
- Strong CSS skills, including experience with CSS pre-compilers (SASS, LESS, etc.)Â
- Proficiency in Python for test automation and toolingÂ
- Go development experienceÂ
- Experience building highly scalable architecturesÂ
- Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and test management toolsÂ
- Experience with AI-assisted test tooling (Playwright codegen, agentic test generation, LLM-based failure triage) is preferredÂ
