Sr. Python Developer

Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Python Software Developer to design, build, and maintain robust data ETL pipelines that power our enterprise spend, expense, and third-party management platforms. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on engineering skills with the ability to partner closely with business stakeholders, translating domain needs into reliable, scalable data solutions. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering and data engineering within a large, regulated financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities • Design & develop ETL pipelines — Build, optimize, and maintain Extract-Transform-Load pipelines in Python to move and transform data across source and target systems. • Database engineering — Develop and tune data models, queries, and stored logic across relational databases, primarily DB2 and PostgreSQL. • Data quality & reliability — Implement data validation, cleansing, error handling, rollback, and audit-logging mechanisms to ensure integrity of production data loads. • Stakeholder partnership — Work directly with business users and analysts to gather requirements, clarify data mappings, and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions. • Production support & observability — Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot failures, and contribute to instrumentation/observability improvements for operational stability. • Engineering standards — Follow modern DevOps practices, unit testing, code-quality gates, and documentation standards.

Required Qualifications • 5–7 years of professional software development experience with Python as the primary language. • Proven hands-on experience building and maintaining data ETL pipelines (extract, transform, load) for structured data. • Strong working knowledge of relational databases, with demonstrable experience in DB2 and PostgreSQL (schema design, SQL optimization, bulk import/export). • Solid understanding of data structures, error handling, and performance tuning for data-intensive workloads. • Strong communication skills with proven experience interacting directly with business stakeholders to elicit requirements and explain technical solutions. • Familiarity with version control, CI/CD, and automated testing practices.
