Contract (52 weeks)
Work Hours: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm (includes unpaid lunch)
Office 90% / Field 10% on an as needed basis
Technical 75% and 25% Administrative
Access to right-of-way required: No.
Work Location:Broadway, NY and field visits throughout the transportation service area, as required.
Description of Work:
The Consultant shall:
· Represent the AVP of Safety in day-to-day operations.
· Evaluate Safety Training programs to ensure continuous implementation, effectiveness, and adherence to rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
· Manage technical and process-related programs and tools to address education and training needs.
· Lead safety-related initiatives and programs to enhance the organization’s safety culture.
· Prepare occupational health and safety performance data for safety training programs for safety leadership.
· Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
· Develop, update, and deliver Safety training programs to internal and external stakeholders.
· Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings.
· Consultant shall be required to use his/her own cell phone.
Reports to: Asst. Vice President, Safety Oversight
Education Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Management, Education/Adult Learning, Public Administration, Organizational Development, or related discipline.
· Master’s degree preferred.
Experience Requirements:
· Minimum of five (5) + years of related safety experience in construction or transportation, with three (3)+ years conducting training. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
· Proven knowledge and experience in training administration, curriculum design and development, assessing training methodologies, as well as classroom instruction and delivery of safety training modules and programs.
· Deep understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, especially Code 29 of Federal Regulations 1926 Subpart C–Training and Education, and general construction safety principles.
· Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office suite, PeopleSoft, Oracle, Windows, etc.)
·Proficiency in Captivate 360, Adobe Captivate preferred or ability to learn.
Licensing / Certifications and Other Requirements:
· OSHA 500 Authorized Outreach Trainer certification.
· OSHA 30 Hour Construction course preferred but not required
First Aid, CPR, AED provider prefererred but not required
Special Skills/Training:
· Preferred background in Transportation / Engineering / Architecture / Construction / Safety Engineering/Safety Management or Construction Safety.
· Candidates acknowledge and agree that, as a condition of continued consideration or employment, the company may require them to attend additional training, obtain supplemental certifications, or achieve any other qualifications deemed necessary by the company. Candidates agree to comply with such requirements within the timelines established by the company.
