The Sr. Controller/CFO will plan, direct and report on the accounting operations and financial results of the company(s). In addition, the role is expected to become a strategic partner to the ownership and senior management of the company.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees the operations and effectiveness of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, cash forecasting, and payroll.
- Oversees training programs and identifies training needs.
- Motivate, support and provide guidance to employees.
- Monitor operations productivity and provide constructive information, feedback and coaching.
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Assist in the handling of discipline of employees in accordance with company policy.
- In combination with the H/R Director, evaluate benefits programs for employees that ensures high-quality coverages at a cost-effective rate.
- Oversee the company's commercial insurance programs.
- Actively participate in the credit status and collections of customer receivables as needed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
- Oversees the production of periodic (monthly, quarterly, and annual) financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
- Utilizes "accrual” accounting for the company, Surf's Up, and Black Metallic, as well as "cash basis” accounting for Steamroller Copies.
- Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company's performance.
- Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on productivity and efficiency, capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
- Provides information necessary for the accurate preparation of Company tax returns.
- Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Ensures that bank reconciliations are completed monthly for all company bank accounts.
- Prepares and reviews a Cash Forecast with the CFO on a regular basis.
- Actively participates in the collection of Accounts Receivable as needed.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
- Oversee and administer the Company's insurance programs (excluding benefits).
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in accounting software, ideally Quickbooks Online.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
- Ten years or more of related experience required.
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation beneficial.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Able to travel as needed.
