 This role sits within theData Management Enablement (DME) Center of Excellence (COE) and focuses on supporting enterprise data governance practices across the organization. The associate acts as agovernance advisor and enablement partner, helping business and data stakeholders improve how data is managed, governed, and retained.


The role emphasizesanalysis, governance oversight, and stakeholder support rather than heavy technical development. It plays a key role indriving adoption of data governance standards, improving data quality, and ensuring alignment withrecords management and data retention requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Data Governance & Quality Support

  • Partner with data owners and stewards toanalyze data issues and improve data quality practices
  • Support the definition and monitoring ofdata quality rules aligned to business needs
  • Performdata analysis, validation checks, and issue investigation to identify root causes and drive resolution
  • Provide insights and recommendations to strengthendata governance controls

Metadata, Catalog & Lineage Governance

  • Support the organization and maintenance ofbusiness metadata and data definitions
  • Ensure data assets areproperly classified, documented, and aligned to governance standards
  • Assist stakeholders in understandingdata flows and lineage to improve transparency and trust

Workflow & Governance Process Enablement

  • Support and enhance governance workflows (e.g.,approvals, issue management, certifications, and lifecycle processes)
  • Improvetraceability, auditability, and consistency of governance processes
  • Provideday-to-day support to users on governance tools and processes

Stakeholder Engagement & Adoption

  • Act as atrusted advisor to business and data teams, guiding them on governance best practices
  • Conducttraining sessions, office hours, and user support to increase adoption
  • Translate business needs intopractical governance solutions and improvements

Records Management & Data Retention

  • Ensure governance practices align withenterprise records management and retention policies
  • Supportdata classification, retention scheduling, and defensible disposition processes
  • Partner with compliance and legal teams to ensure data is managed in accordance withregulatory and internal retention requirements
  • Promote awareness and adoption ofrecords management standards across data domains

Audit, Risk & Continuous Improvement

  • Supportaudit readiness and regulatory compliance (e.g., BCBS 239, GDPR, internal policies)
  • Contribute to governance reporting andevidence tracking
  • Identify opportunities to enhancegovernance processes, controls, and efficiency
  • Support emerging capabilities such asAI-assisted data classification and governance insights

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • 10–13 years of experience indata governance, data management, data quality, or records management
  • Strong understanding ofdata governance frameworks and operating models
  • Experience supportingmetadata, data quality, lineage, and governance processes
  • Solid knowledge ofrecords management and data retention principles
  • Strong analytical skills with ability tointerpret data issues and recommend solutions
  • Proven experience working withbusiness stakeholders, data stewards, and control functions
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability toeducate, influence, and drive adoption of governance practices

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working inregulated environments (e.g., BCBS 239, GDPR)
  • Familiarity with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra or similar platforms)
  • Exposure todata classification, retention schedules, legal holds, and disposition processes
  • Awareness ofemerging AI capabilities in data governance
