We are looking for a Technical Accounting & Reporting Manager

We are looking for a Technical Accounting & Reporting Manager to own complex accounting judgments and help shape how we report to investors and regulators. This role involves preparing SEC filings, leading technical accounting analyses, and managing the stock-based compensation process end to end. The position offers high visibility and requires collaboration with various departments to translate business decisions into their financial-statement impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and coordinate the Form 10-K, 10-Q, proxy statement, and 8-K filings, working with senior management and external auditors.
  • Determine disclosure requirements and gather necessary data from Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, and HR.
  • Support Investor Relations in preparing earnings materials and investor discussions.
  • Lead recurring technical analyses across revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), goodwill and impairment, segment reporting, reinsurance, and other complex areas.
  • Evaluate accounting for proposed transactions, new products, and business changes, and model their impact with Corporate FP&A.
  • Lead the adoption of new accounting standards, including modeling effects on financial statements.
  • Maintain the company's accounting policy manual and advise business units on GAAP and internal policy application.
  • Own the stock-based compensation process, including expense entries, footnote disclosures, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Partner with FP&A and Compensation on plan design impacts and forecasting.
  • Lead ad hoc projects for the CFO, Corporate Controller, and finance leadership.
  • Build strong working relationships across finance, the business, external auditors, and advisors.

Requirements:

  • Active CPA license.
  • 5 years of experience in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm preferred), at a large public company in SEC reporting or technical accounting, or a combination of both.
  • Deep, current knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting rules, including hands-on experience with ASC 606 and ASC 842.

Required Skills:

  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to draft clear, defensible accounting memos and disclosures.
  • Confidence presenting to and advising VP-level and senior leaders, including anticipating questions and answering well under pressure.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities during filing deadlines.
  • Sound judgment in balancing business flexibility with a strong control environment and accurate GAAP reporting.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with stock-based compensation accounting (ASC 718) at a public company.
  • Exposure to insurance or reinsurance accounting.
  • Experience adopting new FASB standards or new SEC disclosure rules from start to finish.
  • Familiarity with SEC reporting tools such as Workiva.
  • Working knowledge of SOX controls over financial reporting.
