Role overview

Were looking for a handson Software EngineerDeveloper with 59 years of experience building and automating enterprise infrastructure and platform services Youll work closely with infrastructure platform and application teams to improve reliability standardize automation and deliver APIs and tools that make operating largescale environments simpler and safer

This role suits someone whos comfortable moving between systems engineering and software engineeringwriting clean Python building REST APIs automating VMware and OS workflows and shipping changes through wellrun CICD pipelines

Key responsibilities

Design build and maintain automation and tooling for enterprise infrastructure computevirtualizationOS operations

Develop and maintain RESTful APIs PythonFastAPI that expose infrastructure capabilities in a consistent secure way

Automate VMware ESXrelated platform operations eg firmware upgrades console access lifecycle activities with a focus on repeatability and auditability

Implement OS automation across Linux and Windows Server upgrades patching filesystem operations service management standard hardening activities

Lead Ansiblebased automation initiatives create and maintain playbooksrolescollections for provisioning configuration patching and compliance

Build reusable standardsdriven automation rolebased design inventory strategy variables management idempotency tagging error handling

Harden and operationalize Ansible usage secrets management eg Ansible Vaultintegrated secret stores RBAC approvals and execution controls

Integrate Ansible automation into CICD pipelines for repeatable delivery and environment consistency

Containerize services and run them in production using Docker and Kubernetes deploy scale monitor and troubleshoot

Use Infrastructure as Code practices and tools Terraform Ansible to deliver scalable and versioncontrolled environments

Apply engineering best practices code reviews branching strategies automated testing documentation and operational runbooks

Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to improve reliability performance and developer experience

Musthave skills and experience

Enterprise Infrastructure experience platforminfra tooling automation or SREstyle engineering

VMware ESX fundamentals and related technologies including automation of operational tasks firmware upgrades console access lifecycle operations etc

Strong version control skills using GitGitHub branching pull requests code review workflows

Linux and Windows Server administration and automation patching upgrades filesystem functions troubleshooting

API development and integration best practices including solid understanding of HTTP methods GET POST PUT PATCH etc contracts versioning error handling and security considerations

FastAPI Python for building RESTful APIs in production

Strong Ansible Automation Expertise including

oDeveloping and maintaining playbooks roles collections and reusable modules where needed

oManaging dynamicstatic inventory variables templates Jinja2 and orchestration patterns

oEnsuring idempotent automation and writing automation thats safe to rerun

oTroubleshooting execution issues and optimising playbooks for scale

oUsing Ansible Vault or equivalent and following secure credential handling practices

Docker Kubernetes handson experience in production deploying scaling and managing containerized applications

CICD pipelines and IaC tooling eg Terraform Ansible to support seamless delivery and scalability

Good to have

Experience or practical knowledge of AILLMs including RAG RetrievalAugmented Generation patterns and how to integrate them into developer tooling or platforms

Familiarity with observability practices loggingmetricstracing and production support patterns
