Job Summary

Are you the type of person who is self-motivated in your desire to achieve welding excellence and is eager to learn and apply technical welding principles? In this role you will assist both production and engineering functions as they relate to welded connections. We’re looking for engaged individuals with a strong desire for professional development, excellent communication skills, and who strive to improve quality, productivity, and safety throughout Vermeer welding.

WhatYou’ll Do 

1. Performvisual inspectionof welds, auditing ofweldments, and reviewresults with leadership. 

2. Communicate new and unique ideas to improve Vermeer products andweldingprocesses.Help quantify cost savings forequipment investments. 

3. Conduct print reviews on engineering change notices (ECN) for new and existing weldments. Createchangerequestforms (CRF) related to weldingerrors or necessary clarificationswithinprints. Support new product launchesthrough both design/prototype phase and production manufacturing. 

4. Provide on-the-job training to new welders and provide guidance to incumbent welders.Assist in both qualifying welders andwelding procedures as needed. 

5. Performbasic weld failure/root cause analysis to resolve warranty related issues/ internal8D tasks. 

6. Document and record inspection/ audit results,welder qualification continuity, print reviews, quality problem resolutions,weld process audits,andspecialprocess improvement projects. 

 

WhatWe’re Looking For 

- High School Diploma. 

- Technical School or skilled trade program inwelding technology,auto tech, diesel tech, industrial/manufacturing systems tech, ag systemstech or related field. 

- Minimum threeyears experiencerelated to weldingin non-destructive testing or visual inspection, maintenance, tooling,continuous improvement,or quality technician – and physical welding experience. 

-Basic understanding ofwelddesign guidelines, standards/codes,problem solving, andtroubleshooting. 

-Ability tovisuallyinspectweldingquality against theappropriate acceptance criteriarequired.Hands on skill in SMAW, FCAW, SAW,CAC, and OFC/PAC for manualandautomated processes preferred.   

-Comprehensive knowledge of safelyoperating general industrial toolsrequired.Hands-on skill operating company or similar industrial, construction, or agricultural/environmental equipment preferred.  

- Vermeer Welder Level III orqualifiedFCAW + GMAW-S (pipe)preferred. GMAW-P qualificationrequired. 

- American Welding Society memberorCertified Welding Inspector or Supervisor (CWI/CWS) preferred.

- Occasional travel is expected of this position. 

Work Location

ONSITE: A team member’s day-to-day work is best done on a Vermeer campus. If work content can be occasionally completed at an offsite location, discuss potential arrangements with your manager.
