Location: Hybrid – Bellevue, WA
Type: W-2 contract, 3 year assignment
Pay:
Junior-Mid $61.50 – $72.00 per hour based on experience
Senior - $72.00 – $93.00 per hour based on experience
About the role
A corporate software development team is looking for a QA Engineer / SDET to test its applications and help build the team's testing practice: putting automation in place, choosing the right tools, and growing quality as a discipline across the organization.
We're hiring at junior, mid and senior levels. Pay and scope depend on experience.
What you'll do
- Develop and run test plans, test cases and QA procedures for the team's applications
- Identify, document and track defects
- Validate fixes before release
- Develop the tools and procedures for manual and automated testing
- Evaluate, select and implement testing tools for the environment
- Help build and grow the software QA and testing discipline across the organization
- Experience in manual and/or automated software QA testing
- Familiarity with defect-tracking tools and, where applicable, automated test frameworks and scripting
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Experience developing the tools and procedures for testing and test automation
- Experience evaluating, selecting and implementing testing tools
- Ability to help build and grow a testing discipline within an organization
- Experience testing within software engineering or DevOps teams
- Otherwise, QA experience at a technology company or in a regulated industry
- Test automation with Selenium, Playwright or Cypress
- Scripting in Python, C# or Java
- API testing (Postman or similar)
- Test management tools (Azure Test Plans, TestRail, Zephyr or similar)
- Running automated tests in CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or similar)
- ISTQB or similar QA certification
- Junior (0–4 years): performs testing tasks under general supervision using established procedures and tools
- Mid (4–8 years): handles complex testing independently and may lead testing tasks or guide junior staff
- Senior (8+ years): senior QA resource; leads testing strategy, tools and standards, mentors others and works directly with stakeholders
- Able to safely lift up to 25 lbs and use stairs
- Travel: 0–5%
