Software Engineer - UAS Ground Control & Autopilot Integration

Austin, TX | Full-Time | Onsite


The Opportunity 

Infravision is seeking a hands-on Production & Development Technician to support the assembly, integration, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) used in our innovative transmission line stringing operations.

In this technical role, you will assemble complex aircraft systems, perform functional testing, diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, and maintain equipment to ensure safe, reliable performance. Working closely with engineering, production, and aviation teams, you will contribute to both product development and ongoing fleet readiness.

This opportunity is ideal for someone with proven electromechanical assembly experience, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety who enjoys solving technical challenges in a fast-moving environment.

What You’ll Do 

  • Ground Control Station Development: Develop, maintain, and enhance Infravision's Ground Control Station software, including its C++ core and JavaScript/React user interface.
  • Flight Controller Integration: Develop and maintain Lua scripts supporting payload control, mission automation, and flight safety logic.
  • ArduPilot Development: Extend and configure ArduPilot through custom firmware builds, parameter management, and feature enablement to support aircraft functionality and operational requirements.
  • Communication Protocols: Implement, integrate, and troubleshoot MAVLink communications between the Ground Control Station, autopilot, and onboard aircraft systems.
  • Flight Testing & Troubleshooting: Support flight testing by reproducing software issues, analyzing flight logs, identifying root causes, and implementing reliable software fixes.
  • Development Tools: Build and maintain internal tools that support flight log analysis, software debugging, testing, and operational troubleshooting.
  • Engineering Collaboration: Work closely with Air Systems Engineering and flight operations teams to develop, test, and maintain reliable software solutions for Infravision's UAS platforms.
  • improvements, troubleshooting, testing, and evolving production priorities. Travel as required to support equipment and operational needs.


What We’re Looking For 

  • Software Development Experience:3–5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Programming Expertise:Strong proficiency in C++ and JavaScript, including experience developing user interfaces using React.
  • Flight Software Integration:Experience with ArduPilot, PX4, MAVLink, or similar flight software ecosystems highly desirable.
  • Engineering Fundamentals:Strong understanding of software engineering principles, including version control with Git, debugging, testing, and developing maintainable, reliable code.
  • Technical Problem-Solving:Ability to diagnose complex software issues, analyze system behavior, and develop practical solutions across integrated software and hardware environments.
  • Collaboration:Ability to work effectively within a small, multidisciplinary engineering team and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Work Authorization:Must be authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
