Duration: 12+ months
Summary:
The Software Engineer will build the AI-native systems that change how the organization does its work. This is not a role for wiring up business logic behind a form. The goal is to take processes that today depend on people manually moving information between systems and rebuild them as agentic workflows: software that reasons over the organization's data, takes action against its systems of record, and keeps a human in the loop where judgment is required. The engineer will design and build the data platform, the full-stack applications, and the agent and tool layers that make this possible, using AI-assisted development as a core part of how the work ships.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design and build agentic workflows that operate against real operational data, including tool and function interfaces, context and retrieval strategies, evaluation harnesses, and the guardrails and human-in-the-loop checkpoints that make autonomous action safe.
- Design and implement entity and object schemas in a custom ORM-style data framework, including authorization and validation rules, so that agents and applications read and write through a single governed data layer.
- Build full-stack web applications using Next.js (React and TypeScript), API routes, and modern frontend patterns, including interfaces for reviewing, approving, and correcting agent-initiated work.
- Build and extend integrations with the organization's enterprise systems of record, including custom objects, triggers, automation, mutation and validation logic, and reporting.
- Define API contracts, data migration strategies, and rollback and conflict-resolution patterns for systems running in parallel during transition.
- Use AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or equivalent) as a core part of the daily workflow for implementation, code review, and refactoring.
- Identify manual, high-friction business processes in partnership with operations stakeholders, then propose and ship the agentic or automated replacement and measure the time and cost it recovers.
- Participate in the team oncall rotation for the tools you build, triaging and resolving production issues in internal systems.
Required Skills:
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript, and modern React frameworks (Next.js preferred).
- Demonstrated experience building LLM-backed features in production, not prototypes: tool and function calling, retrieval, prompt and context engineering, and evaluation of non-deterministic output.
- Strong SQL and relational data modeling, including experience with entity-modeling frameworks, ORMs, or GraphQL schema design.
- Experience integrating enterprise or third-party platform APIs into production applications.
- Experience using AI coding assistants as a primary daily development workflow, not as an occasional aid.
- Sound judgment about where autonomy is appropriate and where a human gate belongs, and the instinct to build observability into systems that act on their own.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, own problems end to end, and communicate clearly in writing.
- Strong command of the full software development lifecycle, from business and systems analysis through requirements gathering and functional specification, to development, testing, and delivery.
- Strong troubleshooting instincts in production systems, with the ability to make system changes as needed to resolve issues.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with agent frameworks, orchestration, or multi-step tool-using systems.
- Experience building evaluation and regression testing for LLM systems.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise CRM or ERP platform development.
- Experience with data warehouse technologies (Hive, Spark, BigQuery, Snowflake, or equivalent).
- Experience with distributed event-streaming or message-bus systems (Kafka, Pulsar, Kinesis, or equivalent).
- Experience building internal business or operations tooling, particularly around budgets, finance workflows, or approvals.
Education/Experience:
- 5 years of professional software engineering experience required.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
