About the job
Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Googleโs needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.
Whether it is paying online with Autofill, using tap and pay in stores, or using the Google Pay app, the Payments team at Google is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition to consumer payment technologies, the Payments team also powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.
XGoogle will be prioritizing applicants who have a current right to work in Singapore, and do not require Google's sponsorship of a visa.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 1 year of experience with coding languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin, etc.).
- Experience designing, launching, and iterating on features or services.
- Experience building shared components, APIs, or platforms for other teams.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience setting up A/B tests and using metrics to decide what to ship next.
- Experience driving technical design in ambiguous environments, working with Product, UX, Privacy, Legal, and Security partners.
- Experience using AI tools in development workflows.
Responsibilities
- Shape the experiences and services that decide what each user should set up or discover next, based on their context and what they've already done and seen.
- Shape the experiences and services that coordinate Wallet's messages across notifications, inโapp surfaces, and email. Respect user preferences and consent, delivery rules, and the record of what was sent, seen, and acted on.
- Provide shared building blocks, such as shared CUJs, user profiles, APIs, and experiment patterns, that other Wallet teams use to onboard users to and promote their features.
- Run experiments and work with product, UX, data science, and partner teams across Android, Payments, and Privacy to measure and improve results against key business goals.
- Take part in the team's oncall rotation, reviewing campaigns and keeping systems that reach hundreds of millions of users reliable.
