Job Title:
Software Engineer – Database and Display (HC)
Location:
US, remote with willingness to travel if required.
Role Overview:
The Software Engineer – Database and Display (HC) will be responsible fordesigning, developing, and maintaining database structures and graphical displays forEnergy Management Systems (EMS) in a power utility environment. This role requireshands-on experience with Client XA/21 platform, focusing on database configuration, display development, and integration with SCADA/DTS applications to support real-time grid operations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Development & Maintenance:
    • Configure and manage XA/21 EMS databases for SCADA, DTS, and PSA applications.
    • Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity across real-time and historical datasets.
  • Display Design & Implementation:
    • Develop and customize operator displays (HMI) within XA/21 for control room operations.
    • Implement intuitive graphical interfaces for alarms, trends, and system status visualization.
  • System Integration:
    • Ensure seamless integration of database and display components with XA/21 core modules.
    • Collaborate with hardware/system engineers for deployment and upgrades.
  • Performance & Reliability:
    • Conduct testing and validation of database and display configurations.
    • Troubleshoot issues and provide timely resolutions to maintain system availability.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
    • Ensure adherence to NERC CIP and cybersecurity standards for EMS systems.
    • Maintain detailed documentation for database schemas and display configurations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience:
    • 8+ years in EMS/SCADA software engineering for power utilities.
    • Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience withClient XA/21 EMS platform (database and display modules).
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proficiency in SQL, Oracle, or similar database technologies.
    • Experience with XA/21 display editor and HMI customization.
    • Familiarity with scripting languages (Perl, Python) for automation.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience withXA/21 database migration,display optimization, andreal-time performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity standards for critical infrastructure.
  • Professional certifications in database management or Client EMS technologies.
