Job Description

This position will be responsible for the analysis, design, testing, development and maintenance of best in class software experiences. The candidate is a self-motivated individual who can collaborate with a team and across the organization. The candidate takes responsibility of the software artifacts produced adhering to U.S. Bank standards in order to ensure minimal impact to the customer experience. The candidate will be adept with the agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade applications usingJava,Spring Boot, andMicroservices Architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Build and enhanceRESTful APIs, event-driven services, and integrations usingKafka or similar messaging and streaming technologies.
• Develop and deploycloud-native solutions leveragingAzure, AWS, or GCP, following modern engineering and architectural best practices.
• Design and implementAI-powered applications utilizingLarge Language Models (LLMs),Generative AI, and intelligent automation capabilities to solve business challenges.
• BuildRetrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions usingvector databases,embeddings,semantic search, andprompt engineering techniques to deliver contextual AI experiences.
• Integrate enterprise applications with AI platforms such asAzure OpenAI,AWS Bedrock,OpenAI,Anthropic, or equivalent services, ensuring secure and responsible AI adoption.
• Implement and supportDevOps practices, includingCI/CD pipelines, automated testing, containerization, andKubernetes-based deployments, to improve delivery efficiency and operational excellence.
• Collaborate withProduct Owners,Architects,Data Engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions, conduct code reviews, contribute to technical designs, and promote engineering best practices.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
- Three to five years of relevant experience

Skills

• Strong proficiency inJava (11/17+),Spring Boot, andMicroservices Architecture for building scalable enterprise applications.
• Experience developingREST APIs, distributed systems, andevent-driven architectures usingKafka or similar technologies.
• Hands-on expertise withGenerative AI,Large Language Models (LLMs),Prompt Engineering, and AI application development.
• Experience designing and implementingRAG architectures, includingvector databases,embeddings, andsemantic search.
• Knowledge of AI orchestration frameworks such asLangChain,LangGraph,Semantic Kernel, or similar agent frameworks.
• Strong cloud engineering experience withAzure,AWS, orGCP, including cloud-native application deployment.
• Experience withDocker,Kubernetes,Git,CI/CD pipelines, and modernDevOps practices.
• Understanding ofSQL/NoSQL databases, application security, observability, AI governance, and responsible AI principles.

Location expectations 
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
