Build the Infrastructure of the AI Era:

With the AI infrastructure market eclipsing $200B and networking representing 20% to 30% of data center investment, traditional architectures are hitting fundamental scaling boundaries. Backed by $610M+ from Lightspeed Venture Partners and Andreessen Horowitz, Nexthop AI is positioned at the epicenter of this shift. As a Software Engineer, you will build next-generation ultra-low-latency network stacks and high-availability distributed systems powering global AI data centers. Working at the critical convergence of low-level systems software, open-source networking, and hardware-software co-design, you will take end-to-end ownership of mission-critical platform components and shape the core technology driving the AI revolution.

What you’ll build, own and achieve:

  • Architect and ship production-grade software across core networking and distributed systems using C, C++, Python, and open-source stacks like SONiC.
  • Drive hardware-software co-design to optimize packet processing, congestion control, and ASIC memory management for massive AI workloads.
  • Own platforms and  features across their full lifecycle from initial architectural trade-offs, bring ups to deployment and high-availability operational support in global AI data centers.
  • Design ultra-low-latency telemetry, monitoring pipelines and automated fault recovery systems to ensure resilience across multi-tenant fabric environments.
  • Translate ambiguous customer requirements into scalable technical designs, actionable implementation plans, and clear performance metrics.
  • Build specialized automation and CI pipelines tailored for low-level systems, accelerating test, debug, and release cycles.
  • Partner directly with customers and internal hardware/product teams during trials, production bring-up, and technical escalations.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong programming ability in one or more of C, C++, and Python.
  • Solid understanding of systems software, distributed systems, operating systems, or embedded systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to break down complex technical problems.
  • A track record of taking ownership from asking the right questions through implementation, validation, and follow-through.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where priorities evolve and engineers are expected to contribute beyond a narrowly defined box.
