What to Expect
As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) on the Service Center Application (SCA) team, you own quality for the applications Tesla Service Centers use every day to service vehicles, deliver new cars, and keep customers moving. SCA is an internal, customer-facing platform — desktop and mobile, with many operational dashboards — used by Service colleagues throughout the visit.Â
You will test a full-lifecycle product with very high demand: parts, servicing, payments, loaner cars, and more, across at least 40 integrations. The system runs at global scale with heavy daily load, so reliability, performance, and regression risk matter as much as new coverage. This role is focused on Vehicle service for the European market, in collaboration with broader Service engineering (including Vehicle and Energy in the US). Adjacent products include Business Resolution, which handles issues such as warranty and mileage.Â
The work is demanding. You will mix test design, automation, and investigation of real operational flows, often against urgent, same-day changes, with strong problem-solving skills and a habit of finding edge cases before they reach Service teams.Â
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and execute test plans and test cases to evaluate software performance, functionality, and usabilityÂ
- Explore and analyze existing and new features, processes, and user flows to design comprehensive and effective test scenariosÂ
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and develop testing solutionsÂ
- Demonstrate curiosity in uncovering edge cases, rare situations, and hidden dependencies to improve overall software resilienceÂ
- Collaboration and teamwork skills to work in agile, cross-functional teamsÂ
- Positive attitude towards continuous improvement and learning, as well as mentoring others in test automation best practicesÂ
- Strong time management and organizational skills to handle fast-paced environments and to meet deadlinesÂ
What You’ll Bring
- 3 to 5 years' experience in software testing, test automation, or development is requiredÂ
- Strong experience with the latest backend web stack technologies such as .NET Core, C#, Python, or JavaÂ
- Experience with frontend web frameworks like React and AngularÂ
- Experience with test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, TestNG, Appium, or similarÂ
- Knowledge of databases and SQL for querying and verifying data integrity during testingÂ
- Ability to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines effectivelyÂ
- Proficiency with version control systems like GitÂ
- Understanding of RESTful web services and API testingÂ
- Fluent English communication skills (both written and verbal) are required, along with flexibility in working hours to collaborate with teams across different time zonesÂ
